Fear Bonner & Prendie families,

I want to start of this week by introducing our new Athletic Director (AD), Mr. Brian Wagner (Class of 2012). As many of you may or may not know, Mr. Joe Lake's (our previous AD) last day at Bonner & Prendie was on October 1. Mr. Lake served our community as AD for two and a half years and in that time has transformed our Department of Athletics with increased participation in athletics by our students, championing for and organizing or first ever home football game on campus, and bringing home four Philadelphia Catholic League Championships! We are grateful for Mr. Lake's contributions and wish him the best of luck as he returns to the baseball industry by continuing the growth of his company Philadelphia Baseball Training.

Mr. Wagner assumed his role as AD on October 9 and will build upon what Mr. Lake laid the foundation for in athletics at Bonner & Prendie. Mr. Wagner graduated from Bonner & Prendie in 2012 and while at B&P played football, rugby, and was a member of the crew team. Mr. Wagner is a graduate of Kutztown University where he earned a degree in Sport and Leadership Studies and is currently completing his Master's degree in Sports Business at Neumann University.

I also want to thank you for your support during our Active Shooter Training with the Upper Darby Police Department, Fire Department, and EMS last week. It was a great opportunity for these three emergency agencies (along with several other neighboring agencies) to practice a drill in this scenario. I also want to commend our students who did an outstanding job as they practiced a lockdown situation in their classrooms. It is sobering to think that we have to practice such scenarios, but a reality in today's society. Thank you again for all your support!

Next week, Friday, October 19, 2018, the Father Bill Atkinson Foundation will be sponsoring their biennial fundraising event at the Springfield Country Club. This year's event is themed "Shake, Raffle, and Roll" and proceeds go on to support scholarships given to Bonner & Prendie students in Fr. Bill's name. Knowing that many of our families knew Fr. Bill Atkinson, OSA, personally, I thought it be worth sharing in this week's newsletter. As many of you know, Fr. Bill Atkinson is an alumnus of Bonner & Prendie and taught here for many years. Fr. Bill has earned the title of Servant of God as his life, work, and prayer intercessions have been under review to consider Fr. Bill for sainthood. Tickets are still on sale for the event and there are other opportunities to support. See link here for more details: http://www.fatherbillatkinson.org/shake-raffle-roll/.

Thank You and God Bless,

Dr. John Cooke
