Underclassmen Scholarships Announced!

After the final underclassmen mass on Monday, June 10th, the following students were announced as scholarship recipients for their efforts in and out of the classroom:

Kimberly Ostien Memorial Scholarship

Congratulations Valaire McCrea '22 and Hatheem Bonner '22!
This scholarship was established in honor of Kimberly Oestein, Prendergast Class of 2003. Kimberly passed away suddenly from alcohol poisoning. As a student at Prendie, Kim consistenly received Honor Roll status, despite being a third track student. She often expressed her desire for more scholarship and opportunity for students in lower-tracks to receive accolades. After her passing, this scholarship fund was created to celebrate two rising freshmen students, one boy and one girl, who have excelled in lower-track courses, and work hard and reflect Kim's work ethic.

Nicole Gallo Sunshine and Bubbles Scholarship

The Gallo Family has established a scholarship in memory of Nicole Gallo ’08 to benefit Sophomore, Junior and Senior year students attending Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School (MBAP). Nicole was an active member of the Bonner and Prendie Family; while at Prendie she was a member of the soccer, track and dance teams and participated in the school shows. She was dedicated to community service and had an indomitably positive attitude and strong faith. This scholarship will be awarded annually through proceeds made by the Nicole Gallo Soccer Tournament and Nicole Gallo Sunshine and Bubbles 5K, as well as being open to contributions from other family or interested parties.

Billy Lake '67 ALS Memorial Scholarship

Congratulations Brian McCormick '22!
This scholarship is in memory of Billy Lake. Billy is a graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School from the class of ’67. Billy Lake died in 1992 at the age of 42 from Lou Gehrig’s disease.The Billy Lake ALS Marathon is an all-day basketball tournament in memory of Billy and raises funds for research into ALS and provides educational scholarships in the name of the Billy Lake Memorial Research Fund. Since 1993, Patti Lake-Quinn has awarded 13 scholarships in his memory to a student who has finished his freshman year at Bonner. The scholarship is valued at $2,000 a year for the student’s remaining three years.

Mrs. Maureen Eberle Theology Scholarship

Congratulations Kasey Habicht '20 and Timothy Acampado '20!
The Maureen Eberle Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of long-time Bonner theology teacher, Mrs. Maureen Eberle. Mrs. Eberle served Bonner for twenty-five years as a Junior theology teacher. Mrs. Eberle served as the moderator of the National Honor Society, as well as a Junior class counseling officer. Two rising seniors who are practicing Catholics will be presented this scholarship.

Russell Roegner '65 Mathematics Scholarship

Congratulations Matthew Brady '21!
This scholarship, established by Mr. Russell and Patricia Roegner, seeks to provide financial support to students of Bonner & Prendie High School. This scholarship will be awarded to a sophomore entering their junior year. Candidates for this scholarship should have a strong interest in mathematics and be interested in pursuing this as a career – accounting, engineering, statistics, teaching, etc.  Students who show a strong work ethic out of the classroom are also considered, whether it be in athletics, clubs, or activities.

Rev. Paul Morrissey '57 Scholarship

Congratulations Julia Cavaliere '21!

Fr. Paul Morrissey (Bonner ’57), his sister, Mary Johnson (Prendie ’62) and her husband, Michael (Bonner ’59) celebrated Fr. Paul’s 50th anniversary of joining the Augustinians on the occasion of a Jubilee Celebration led by Archbishop Charles Chaput at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Philadelphia, September 8, 2013. The family of Rev. Paul F. Morrissey, OSA has set up a scholarship in the name of their brother.  This scholarship will honor Fr. Morrissey for his dedication to all of the people who have sought his spiritual guidance over the years.  Fr. Morrissey is an award winning author, counselor to the poor and needy, and a humanitarian.
