M.Ed. Secondary Education and Health/Physical Education
Ms. McDonald, a proud alumna of Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls, grew up at Saint Bartholomew's parish and school in Northeast Philly. When discerning what career field she should enter, her sister, a student at West Chester University at the time, encouraged her to become a Health and Physical Education teacher because she loved her physical education class and teacher at Little Flower and was an avid member of the track team. Her teaching career began in 1986, and most of her career has been spent teaching Health and Physical Education in junior high and high schools. She spent 14 wonderful years teaching at Archbishop Prendergast High School, from 1994-2008, until she had a desire to move on and explore a new city; Syracuse.
After several years in Syracuse, Ms. McDonald wanted to return to the homeland of Philadelphia, and she learned that there was an opening in Health and Physical education at Bonner & Prendie. Outside of school, Ms. McDonald runs in endurance races and triathlons and has also played softball, volleyball, badminton, and pickleball. She also loves spending time with her family and her two adult children along with her dog, appropriately named Prendie, and two cats.
Why Bonner & Prendergast?
Ms. McDonald feels that returning to Bonner & Prendie after 10 years was a homecoming and that she was truly meant to be here. A lot of things and traditions remind her of her time at Prendie, and when she returned, many of the faculty and staff she knew were still working here. It is a great feeling of belonging.
