Dress Code

Boys

When the students enter the building, students must be dressed in full school attire and remain in full uniform until they leave the campus. The uniform is worn from the first day of school through the last. Students who are involved in after school sports or activities must change in the gym. The dress code is as follows

SLACKS – Khaki slacks purchased from Flynn and O’Hara are the only acceptable school pants. A belt must be worn at all times. No large belt buckles are permitted. The following are not permitted; Cargo pants, jeans, jeans-type pants and pants with stripes, etc. School pants may not be cut or altered in any way.

SHIRTS – Solid white or blue dress shirts are the only acceptable colors to be worn. A tie must be worn at all times except when wearing the golf shirt. Shirts must be tucked in completely at all times. (Any t-shirt worn under the dress shirt must be a solid white t-shirt with no writing on the t-shirt.)

SWEATER – Only green Bonner sweaters are permitted to be worn. (October 15 – April 15)

GOLF SHIRT – This is worn in the warm weather. It is optional and be purchased at Flynn and O’Hara or at the school store. The golf shirt must be tucked in at all times.

SHOES –  All students are required to wear the brown buck with a red sole. Socks must be worn at all times. No work-boots, sandals, sneakers, slippers or flip flops are permitted. Sneakers are not permitted to be worn during the school day.

HAIR – Hair should be cut neatly and cut above the collar of the shirt. NO EXTREME OR UNUSUAL HAIRCUTS ARE PERMITTED. Sideburns are not allowed below the ear. ALL BOYS MUST BE CLEAN SHAVEN!!! Doctor’s notes will not be accepted for failing to shave. Braids or corn-rows, neatly done are acceptable, but must be above the collar.  Dyeing of the hair is not permitted. No hair coloring of any kind is permitted.

JEWELRY – NO EARRINGS ARE TO BE WORN IN SCHOOL. Students wearing earrings must remove them before entering the building. Failure to do so will result in the earrings being confiscated.

The wearing of excessive jewelry is not permitted. No body piercing will be permitted.

HATS – NO HATS ARE TO BE WORN IN THE SCHOOL AT ANY TIME. THESE WILL BE CONFISCATED AND NOT RETURNED.

TATTOOS & MAKE-UP – All tattoos must be covered at all times. Students are not permitted to wear any sort of cosmetics.

Girls

JUMPERS – The official school uniform is the gray jumper bearing the proper emblem on the left side. A white blouse with a peter pan collar is to be worn under the jumper. (Any t-shirt worn under the dress shirt must be a solid white t-shirt with no writing on the t-shirt. No long sleeve t-shirts are permitted to be worn at anytime with the school uniform.) This is the only uniform that every student must own.

KILTS – A plaid kilt may be worn with either a button down collar oxford blouse or the “APHS turtleneck on non-official days.

Uniforms and kilts are to be worn at a reasonable length (no higher than 1 inch above the knee). Shorts or boxer shorts, if worn under the uniform, are to be worn above the reasonable length of the uniform. A kilt waistband may not be rolled at any time.

GOLF SHIRT – Maroon golf shirts may be worn with the kilt from the first day of school until October 15 and from April 15 until the close of school. The golf shirt must be completely tucked in at all times.

PANTYHOSE – Maroon pantyhose or tights must be worn year round. Stockings with holes may not be worn to school.

SWEATER – The official maroon school sweater must be worn from October 15 until April 15. The sweater must be worn with the kilt, but is optional with the gray jumper. No other sweater, sweatshirt, or jacket may be worn at any time during the school day.

SHOES –  All students are required to wear the brown buck with a red sole.  Sneakers, flip flops or sandals are never permitted to be worn during the school day.

JEWELRY – No large earrings, multiple chains or bracelets or inappropriate body jewelry/body piercing may be worn with the uniform. Students are limited to one pierced earring per ear. Earrings are to be no bigger than a quarter. No dangling earrings are permitted. No visible body piercing is permitted.

HAIR – No bizarre or unusual hair color or hairstyles are permitted. Tattoos must be covered at all times. No excessive make-up may be worn during the school day.

SCARVES – No scarves are permitted.
